James Morton was runner-up in the 2012 series of The Great British Bake Off. He grew up in the Shetland Isles and learnt to bake with his granny. Currently studying medicine at the University of Glasgow, James’s spare time is devoted to baking bread, brewing beer and writing books. His first title, Brilliant Bread, published by Ebury in August 2013, received widespread critical acclaim and was awarded the 2014 Guild of Food Writers Award for Cookery Book of the Year.
