About The Great British Sewing Bee

The Great British Sewing Bee is a television competition to find Britain’s best amateur sewer.

The competition is presented by Claudia Winkleman and judged by sewing teacher May Martin and Savile Row tailor Patrick Grant. The third series airs on BBC2 in Spring 2015.

Series two, screened on BBC2 from February to April 2014, was watched by an average of 3.24 million viewers. A closely fought final saw Heather Jacks defeating Chinelo Bally and Tamara Melvin to be crowned that year’s ‘Sewing Bee’ champion.

Spin-off series include a 2013 Christmas Special and a Children in Need Special, shown in November 2014, which saw Pam Ferris, Gabby Roslin, Jenny Eclair and nine other celebrities put their sewing skills to the test.

The main series has spawned three tie-in books: The Great British Sewing Bee (March 2013) and The Great British Sewing Bee: Sew Your Own Wardrobe (February 2014) and The Great British Sewing Bee: Fashion with Fabric (February 2015), with each title becoming an instant bestseller.
