Peter Black has acquired the rights to create an exclusive Great British Bake Off giftware range for Marks & Spencer. The one year deal was brokered by Claire Potter at Metrostar. The collection will appear in stores later this year.
BBC Haymarket Exhibitions has acquired consumer events rights to The Great British Bake Off for its BBC Good Food Shows. The aim is to re-create the television experience live for visitors to the shows and enable them to take part in a Bake Off event.
Simon & Schuster has acquired World rights to ‘How to cook an egg in an orange’ from Claire Potter and Stuart Cooper at Metrostar. The ultimate cookbook for today’s outdoor cooks it is being written by Chef and Scout Leader, Nick Allen.
Love Productions has appointed Metrostar to manage its brand licensing programme for the BBC Two cookery series, The Great British Bake Off. Metrostar will be showcasing the property at Brand Licensing in October 2011 with a view to growing its list of commercial partners.
Oxford University Press (OUP) has appointed Metrostar to manage the new brand licensing campaign for their best-selling children’s picture book series, Winnie the Witch. Metrostar is working with OUP on a new style guide for Winnie, and her cat Wilbur, targeting apparel, stationery, gifting and accessories for boys and girls aged 3-7.
Roy Lowe & Sons is to partner with Dear Zoo to create a range of children’s socks based upon the popular picture book. Initially, the socks will accompany the Dear Zoo baby and toddler apparel ranges being developed by Metrostar and TV Mania for Tu Clothing in Sainsbury’s.
BBC Books is to publish ‘How to Bake a Victoria Sponge and Other Baking Secrets’ in August 2011. The tie-in to the second series of The Great British Bake Off, the book will feature recipes from the shows and tips from judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. It has been written by cookery author, Linda Collister.
Games software publisher, Avanquest, is to create games for PC and DS based upon the CBBC children’s spy drama, MI High. The popular show has been commissioned for a sixth series and producers Kudos are working with the Birmingham Stage Company to launch a national theatre show in 2011.
Macmillan Children’s Books has won a 3-way pitch for the rights to publish a range of books for The Scout Association aimed at children aged 6 to 10. The three-year deal was brokered by Metrostar. The first books will be launched in 2011 and include an annual and other non-fiction titles.
Cardmix has launched a range of 15 greetings cards based upon the legendary Viz Top Tips. The range, which is stocked by WH Smith, was presented to retailers at Spring Fair at the NEC.
